Sea Scouts

The Sea Scout Troop consists of members who are aged 10½ – 14, the Troop is split up into small units of six to eight Scouts called a Patrol, led by a Patrol Leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. Throughout the year, Scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking, pitching tents and first aid in preparation for camping, overnight expeditions and bivouacking. Kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, pulling, sailing, raft building, power boating and narrow boating are just some of the water activities they get up to. Scouts also take part in other adventurous activities such as rifle shooting, archery, climbing and abseiling. Badge work features prominently with many Sea Scouts gaining coveted awards like the Chief Scout’s Gold Award.

Meeting Night

Wednesday 7:15 pm – 9:00 pm

The Sea Scout Troop is led by the Sea Scout Leader (Skip) and at least one Assistant Scout Leader.

Aims

The organisation of the Scout Troop, which is made up of a number of Patrols, each led by a Patrol Leader, forms an essential feature of Scout training. Scout training includes the promotion of leadership skills, planning and carrying out activities in the context of self-reliance.

Uniform

The Sea Scout uniform consists of; a Navy Sea Scout jersey, dark red and navy blue Group necker, smart black trousers, Sea Scout Cap and the activity kit t-shirt. More information can be found within the starter pack linked above.
